Alderbury and Whaddon

Part of the Clarendon Team of Churches

If you have chosen to come to this part of our website, you are probably researching your family history, and are looking for information on your ancestors who may have lived in the area.

As with all other Parish churches, St Mary's was required to hold registers of Births, Marriages and Deaths. These records started in 1606 and although patchy in early years, go up to the present day.

Our graveyard records have been put into a searchable database here. Might be a good place to start!

Baptism, Marriage and Burial records.

The GENUKI gives considerable details of all registers available, and provides the following information:

As well as the above services,
www.ancestry.co.uk and www.freebmd.org.uk provide access to the Birth, Marriage and Death indexes. These Indexes start in 1837, when all Births Marriages and Deaths had to be formally registered.

War Memorials.

As with nearly all Parish Churches, St Mary's has memorials to those who served in both World Wars.

and 15 men who served at home.

Take a close look - you will see 7 BUNDYs.

The Samuel BUNDY noted as being on Home Service,

was this sites Webmaster's Great Grandfather!
