The Parish Church of St. Mary
Alderbury and Whaddon

Part of the Clarendon Team of Churches

St. Mary’s Church:

First Sunday of the month:

First Sunday - The first Sunday of each month is Morning Praise. There is a less formal structure - and more of an opportunity to do something a little different. This may involve more teaching, a chance to try different ways of praying - or different songs and hymns than we would normally sing. Flexibility is the key, and the exact style of the service is down to the individual leading it. Sunday Squad meets after the first hymn.

Second Sunday of the month:

The second Sunday of the month is All-Age Communion. The style of the service aims to engage both children and adults. A number of our children have been prepared to receive communion, so we hope it feels like a family meal.

Third Sunday of the month:

The third Sunday of the month is our Family Service. This is geared towards the youngest in the congregation, and is usually very hands on. Hymns and prayers are projected onto a screen at the front of the church, as are visual aids to help explain the message. We encourage all the youngsters in our various groups to come to this service.

Fourth Sunday of the month:

The fourth Sunday of the month is Holy Communion with the ministry of healing. During Communion there is the opportunity for the laying on of hands with a short set prayer, or an opportunity to meet with a pair of prayer ministers for specific prayer. Sunday Squad and Sunday Squad Plus meet after the first hymn.

Fifth Sunday of the month:

Where there is a fifth Sunday in the month, we join with the other churches in the Clarendon Team for worship (usually including Communion). The location of this service moves between the various churches, and starts a little later than our normal time - at 10.00am.

St. Mary’s Hall, Whaddon:

Every Wednesday:

A mid-week Communion Service is held each Wednesday morning at 10.00am.

Fourth Sunday of the month:

The fourth Sunday of the month is a joint service with the Roman Catholics. The location alternates between St. Mary’s Hall and the Roman Catholic chapel in Whaddon and starts at 6.30pm.

The Well

On the first Sunday of the month there is a Team service of contemporary worship and reflection at East Grimstead Reading Room at 6.00pm.
